Kaleb Warner is de eerste speler van het eredivisieteam van Basketball Community Gelderland. De 1.98 lange Amerikaanse shooting guard speelde vorig seizoen voor de Dreamfields Dolphins, uitkomend in de promotiedivisie.
De 25 jarige Kaleb Warner, geboren in Arizona, groeide op in Washington. Hij speelde in Amerika voor verschillende scholen, waaronder University of the Pacific, Rockhurst University en Western Oregon. Familie in Nederland bracht hem vervolgens in 2019 naar de andere kant van de oceaan. Afgelopen seizoen kwam hij uit voor de Dreamfields Dolphins, waar hij een van de sterspelers van de promotiedivisie was, met gemiddeld 21 punten, 8 rebounds, tegenover 58% FG en 45% 3FG.
Coach Matthew Otten is blij met de eerste aanwinst: ‘’Ik heb Kaleb een seizoen meegemaakt bij de Dreamfields Dolphins. Een genot om deze jongen in je team te hebben. Hij heeft overduidelijk zijn plek in het DBL team verdiend. Met zijn kwaliteiten als speler, zijn positieve houding en werklust is hij een speler die perfect bij onze organisatie past.’’
Kaleb zelf kan niet wachten om te beginnen: ‘’Ik heb enorm veel zin om met de jongens aan de slag te gaan. Als team verwacht ik dat we elke dag keihard werken om beter te worden en te groeien als geheel. Volgens mij kunnen er dan mooie dingen ontstaan in Gelderland. Mijn keuze voor Basketball Community Gelderland heeft voornamelijk met twee aspecten te maken. Zij geloven in winnen en willen het optimale uit iedere speler halen. De ambitie die er is spreekt mij enorm aan en ik denk dat dit een mooie plek is om mij verder te ontwikkelen als speler. Ik ben er klaar voor!’’
Naast Kaleb wordt de rest van de selectie de aankomende weken gepresenteerd. Matthew Otten en de technische staf leggen momenteel de laatste hand aan de selectie.

Kaleb Warner is Basketball Community Gelderland’s first DBL player for upcoming season. The 1.98-tall American shooting guard played for the Dreamfields Dolphins last season, in the promotion division.
Born in Arizona, 25-year-old Kaleb Warner grew up in Washington. He played in America for several schools, including University of the Pacific, Rockhurst University and Western Oregon. Family in the Netherlands then took him to the other side of the ocean in 2019. Last season, he played for the Dreamfields Dolphins, where he was one of the star players in the promotion division, averaging 21 points, 8 rebounds, versus 58% FG and 45% 3FG.
Coach Matthew Otten is happy with the first acquisition: “I coached Kaleb last season on the Dreamfields Dolphins team. It’s a pleasure to work with this guy. He has clearly earned his spot in the DBL team. With his qualities as a player, his positive attitude and work ethic, he is a player that fits perfectly with our organization.”
Kaleb himself can’t wait to get started: “I am really looking forward to working with the guys. As a team, I expect us to work very hard every day to improve and grow as a team. I think exciting things will happen in Gelderland. My choice for Basketball Community Gelderland mainly has to do with two aspects. They believe in winning and want to get the most out of every player. Their ambition appeals to me enormously and I think this is a great place to further develop myself as a player. I’m more than ready!”
In addition to Kaleb, the rest of the selection will be presented in the coming weeks. Matthew Otten and the technical staff are currently finalizing the selection.
